HOW TO FIX A SCRATCH
Hi again, people ask “how can I fix a scratch?” Well there are two ways it depends on the what’s on top of the floor. If your floor was just sanded and refinished it most likely has a urathane finish on top, either water base or oil base. Either way the solution is the same. For a surface scratch, in other words if you apply apply a little bit of water on it and the scratch goes away, buy a touch up marker from a hardware or big box store in a lite color, follow the direction of the scratch, wait a few seconds and then take a paper towl and wipe off the exess with the grain. Other wise take a piece of steal whool, lightly rough up the scratch, buy a touch up marker that is a little darker than your floor, color over the area, wait a few seconds, use a paper towl and blend in the color. Let that dry for an hour or so than take a lite color marker go over the area again, wait a few seconds use another paper towl and wipe away the exess with the grain. If you don’t know when your floors were done or if you use wax or a wax based product then buy a bottle of Old English Furniture Polish that is a little darker than your floor, again you can buy that from a hardware or big box store, take a piece of steal whool lightly rough up the area, apply the polish with a paper towl to the area, and blend in the color, than finish up by wiping with the grain, let it dry for an hour or so than wax the floor. If it’s a deep scratch you may not get it out, but you will be able to get the color back. The only way to get out a deep scratch is to sand the whole room, let someone like me do that.
